Turkish Personal Data Protection Board announced on 11th March 2021 that the deadlines determined for VERBIS registrations have been extended.
It has been remarked under the announcement text that the registration deadlines determined for the below groups have been extended until 31st December 2021:
- Real and legal person data controllers with an annual number of employees more than 50 or the total annual financial balance of more than 25 million Turkish Liras and real and legal person data controllers residing abroad;
- Real and legal person data controllers with an annual number of employees less than 50 whose main activity is sensitive personal data processing;
- State institutions and organizations and professional organizations with public institution status.
VERBİS is a registration system where data controllers processing personal data in Turkey must be registered to and record the data processing activities they are engaged with. Data controllers must register with the VERBIS within the deadlines remarked above.
